A little known, or, perhaps, fading fact about Necco is that in 1956 Necco signed a deal with toffee titan, Mackintosh of England, to introduce Mackintosh’s popular Rolo, Munchies, and Toffee Crisp candies to the American palate. For thirteen years Necco not only sold Mackintosh candy, they also manufactured similar candies of their own.

In 1966 they introduced Drums, a solid milk chocolate version of the soft toffee filled Rolo. Despite a cool ad campaign featuring a 60s secret agent, “The Man from Necco” Peter Drum, Drums never caught on.
