Tom's Candy was one of my favorites to collect in the 70s because it was almost always awful in some way. The "Full Dinner" bar was an early find. I was initially unsure as to how a fairly small peanut butter bar rated such a grandiose name, but as I continued collecting over the decades I came to learn that the Full Dinner is part of a rich history of candy bars touted as meal substitues or nourishing after-school lunches that began in the 1920s. I was also surprised to learn that this is not the strangest of these candy bars. Chicken Dinner, anybody?
